Several suspected drug dealers arrested in Summerville operation

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC)- Investigators say several suspected drug dealers were arrested Tuesday night in a drug bust in Summerville.

Officials with the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office say the arrests were the result of search warrants targeting two locations on Pidgeon Bay Road near West Richardson Avenue. The warrants were a result of a three month investigation into illegal drug and liquor sales at two properties.

According to the sheriff's office, the investigation started with multiple controlled buys using confidential informants. Investigators seized 140 grams of marijuana, .9 grams of cocaine, 5.3 grams of cocaine base, 2.5 grams of heroin and 27 bottles of liquor.

Steven Lama Limehouse, Angelo Campbell, Jermaine Ancrum, Horatio Maurice Haynes, James Davis and Robert Devaine Ancrum were arrested for drug dealing charges.

Barbecue dinner benefit to be held for boy with rare disorder

Barbecue dinner benefit to be held for boy with rare disorder

A barbecue dinner is being held on July 16 to raise money for a 10-month-old boy who has a rare genetic disorder.

A medical expense benefit for Hayden Nolan Carver will take place at the Veterans of Foreign Wars building in Summerville on June 16 at 1 p.m. Hayden was diagnosed with Chromosome 17q25.2q25.3 Duplication 17q25.3 Deletion, a very rare genetic disorder affecting only 20-25 people worldwide.

The benefit will have barbecue dinner for $10 a plate. All proceeds will go towards any medical expense that Hayden’s family can not cover through insurance.

There will also be door prize', silent auctions, a jump castle and many other activities.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars building is located at 10154 Bellwright Rd in Summerville.

Summerville exit at James Island Connector reopens after accident

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC)- Authorities have reopened the Summerville exit on the James Island Connector following a single-car accident.

Charleston Police Department spokesman Charles Francis said the wreck happened just after noon on Wednesday.

Francis said one person was taken to the hospital, but did not say if the injuries were considered life-threatening.

Wrecks cleared on I-26 eastbound

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC)- Traffic is running smoothly again after four wrecks in the eastbound lanes of I-26 snarled traffic for commuters on Wednesday morning.

South Carolina Highway Patrol officials said two of the wrecks are located near Aviation Avenue and the other wreck happened near the I-526 interchange.

Another wreck happened a short time later near the Ashley Phosphate Road exit.

Those wrecks did not appear to be serious.

Ashley Ridge Drops 1st Game Of State Finals Series, 2-0

DUNCAN, SC- Alex Cunningham pitched a complete game, 4-hit shutout to go along with 13 strikeouts as Byrnes took a 1-0 lead in the best of 3 series for the AAAA state baseball title with a 2-0 win over Ashley Ridge. 

The Swamp Foxes (28-3) were led by Austin Livingston on the mound who gave up just 4 hits and had 8 strikeouts. The only runs he allowed came on a bases loaded walk and a fielder's choice in the third. 

Bryan Dye led Ashley Ridge offensively going 2-3 with a double. 

Game 2 of the series will be Thursday in Ashley Ridge. 

 

Carlos Dunlap announces details for 1st kids camp

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC- Former Fort Dorchester standout and current Cincinnati Bengal Carlos Dunlap will hold the 1st annual Carlos Dunlap football camp June 2nd at Fort Dorchester High School from 9am-1pm. The camp is for kids ages 6-14. 

The camp will be hosted by Offense Defense football camps. The camp was voted best summer sports camps by Sports Illustrated for kids. In addition to the fundamentals of football, the camp will provide skills needed to succeed in life and learn the importance of teamwork, discipline, responsibility, respect, family values and hard work. On hand will be other NFL personalities to assist Dunlap and other area high school coaches. 

High School playoff games postponed due to weather

Monday's 1st game of the AAAA baseball state finals series has between Ashley Ridge and Byrnes has been postponed due to the threat of inclement weather. Game 1 will now be played Tuesday night in Byrnes. The rest of the best-of-3 series has also been shifted back a day. Game 2 will be at Ashley Ridge on Thursday night and game 3, if necessary, will be at a neutral site on Saturday. 

Tonight's AAAA lower state girl's soccer finals between West Ashley and Wando has also been postponed. They'll face off at the old Wando High School on Tuesday night at 7pm. 

Two other Lowcountry playoff games, the AA lower state girl's soccer finals between Bishop England and Academic Magnet and game 1 of the AA baseball state finals at Hanahan with the Hawks hosting Gilbert are still set to go. Both games will start at 6:30pm.
