Owners finalize deal, location for Summerville Mellow Mushroom | News

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC)- A deal has been finalized to bring a popular pizza joint to Summerville.

Mellow Mushroom will open in the former Perkings Restaurant at 1306 North Main Street in late 2013, owners announced Monday.

"We have been excited about coming to Summerville
for almost a decade. We have been fortunate to have many customers who live in
Summerville come down to our stores in Charleston and encouraged us to come to
town. We had been looking for awhile and the perfect location came our way. We
are very excited to serve everyone closer to home soon," said part-owner Johnny Hudgins.

The pizza place currently has two other Charleston locations with a spot on King Street in downtown and one on Magnolia Road, in the Avondale area of West Ashley.

Owners say the design for the Summerville location will be created by the same Atlanta-based architecture firm which designed the Avondale location.

The new restaurant is expected to create about 50 jobs.
